In a world of (mis)information overload,
students need more than facts.

They need the skills to evaluate sources, think critically,
and engage as responsible citizens.

Join teacher trainers from across Europe for a hands-on international learning experience.

Empower teachers to weave meta-scientific literacies into everyday teaching,
making 21st-century skills and digital citizenship competences
an integral part of instruction across all subjects.

Fact vs. Fake
SciLMi Model of Meta-Scientific Literacies

The SciLMi Model of Meta-Scientific Literacies

SciLMi Approach

SciLMi stands out for its practice-oriented design, which breaks down complex competences
– spanning digital media and information literacies, critical thinking and democracy skills –
into learning objectives, outcomes and HOWs:
concrete steps that systematically and progressively guide learners in achieving them.

SciLMi Learning Objectives

Learning Outcome 1 – Integrating Meta-Scientific Literacies

Identify where subject‑specific learning goals naturally overlap with meta‑scientific literacies and recognise suitable moments in the curriculum where these literacies can be meaningfully integrated into ongoing instruction.

Learning Outcome 2 – Fostering Meta-Scientific Literacies

Develop teaching materials and activities that foster students’ critical thinking, reflection, and responsible engagement with digital media and information — embedding digital citizenship education and democratic values in your own classrooms.

Learning Outcome 3 – Designing Contextualised Learning

Design learner‑centred, competence‑based learning experiences that use real‑world socio‑scientific issues to enhance student motivation.

Learning Outcome 4 – Using SciLMi Resources and AI Effectively

Use SciLMi resources confidently and make effective use of AI to locate authentic materials that enhance students’ learning.
Evaluate AI and machine‑translated materials critically to understand their usefulness, limitations, and common pitfalls.

Learning Outcome 5 – Responding to Learner Diversity

Design inclusive learning environments that recognise students' varied strengths and needs and support equitable participation in heterogeneous classrooms.

Learning Outcome 6 – Collaborating Across Subjects

Collaborate across subject boundaries to help students connect knowledge from different disciplines and develop integrated understanding.

Learning Outcome 7 – Reflecting on Professional Practice

Critically reflect on the pedagogical methods, tools, and resources experienced during the training, and evaluate how they can be transferred and adapted for your own classroom context.

Eligibility & Requirements

Eligibility

This SciLMi Train the Trainer Week is open exclusively to those involved in secondary school teacher education.

Teachers who have already participated in a SciLMi Blended Intensive Teacher Training are not eligible to apply again.

What counts as teacher education?

For the purposes of this application, teacher education includes all activities that support secondary school teachers' professional learning and develop their competences, including:

  • Delivering training courses, workshops, or webinars (any duration or format)
  • Supervising pre-service teachers during school placements or practicums
  • Mentoring or coaching novice or experienced teachers
  • Facilitating job shadowing and peer observation
  • Leading in-school initiatives to develop teaching practice or advising colleagues on subject-specific teaching
  • Developing self-paced learning resources for teacher education (e.g. textbooks, MOOCs, e-learning modules)

Participation in the SciLMi Train the Trainer Week is therefore open to:

  • Teacher educators, trainers, mentors, supervisors, or coaches working with pre- or in-service secondary school teachers
  • School leaders, principals, or deputies of secondary schools
  • Subject coordinators or heads of department in secondary schools
  • Secondary school subject teachers with a clear ambition to take on a coaching, mentoring, or supervisory role (please provide a strong justification in your application)

Requirements

  • The course is conducted in English. Participants must have good English language skills.

  • Full participation in the course is required:

    • Arrival on Sunday, 19 April 2026
    • Full-day programme from Monday through Friday, 20 - 24 April 2026
    • Departure on Saturday, 25 April 2026
Funding Options

There are no course fees. To support cross-country collaboration and team-building, all participants stay at the same seminar hotel for the duration of the week.

Applicants can choose one of the following travel and subsistence funding options:

Erasmus+ SciLMi Teacher Academy funding

  • Accommodation is provided free of charge from Sunday to Saturday. Lunch is also provided free of charge on course days, Monday to Friday.

  • Proof of travel arrangements must be uploaded within seven days of receiving the acceptance letter. Participants will be supported in identifying the most cost-effective travel options available. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, up to the amount specified in the letter, after completion of the full training.

  • Applicants who submit an inspiring practice in a field relevant to SciLMi receive additional points, in recognition of their contribution and to promote the sharing of effective approaches.

  • To support first-time engagement, applicants from institutions not yet accredited under the Erasmus+ Programme receive additional points in the selection process, giving them a better chance of being selected.

Erasmus+ KA1 funding arranged by the participant's university or school or private funding

  • Accommodation is arranged by the organisers from Sunday to Saturday. Lunch is arranged on course days, Monday to Friday. Participants will be charged EUR 112 per night for accommodation and EUR 20 for each lunch. An invoice for the total amount of EUR 772 will be issued by the hotel after the course.

  • Participants will be supported in identifying the most cost-effective travel options available. Travel expenses must be covered through the participants' KA1 or private funding.

  • Erasmus+ KA1 funding is expected to cover all costs.

  • Selecting KA1 or private funding enhances participants' chances of being selected, as specific places are allocated to this funding category.

Application & Selection Process

Selection Process & Criteria

Applications are assessed through a structured and transparent selection process.

  • Verification of Application Details

Application details are checked for accuracy, in particular whether the applicant's organisation is accredited under the Erasmus+ Programme and whether the information provided accurately reflects the applicant's role and experience in teacher education.

  • Blind Review

Motivational texts are reviewed and scored independently by four team members in a blind review.

  • Score Calculation

An algorithm combines the review scores with selected contextual criteria — including country, subject, teacher education phase, teaching experience — to ensure balanced representation across these dimensions.

Applicants who submit an inspiring practice in a field relevant to SciLMi receive additional points, in recognition of their contribution and to promote the sharing of effective approaches.

Applicants from institutions not yet accredited under the Erasmus+ Programme receive additional points to ensure they are prioritised, in line with the project's aim of supporting first-time engagement with Erasmus+.

  • Ranking

Separate rankings are generated for the places offered under the funding options:

    • Erasmus+ KA1 or private funding
    • Erasmus+ SciLMi funding
  • Selection

Available spots within each funding category are offered first to the highest-ranked applicants in that category. All applicants are then informed of the outcome.

Communication of Selection Results

  • Applicants will be informed in March 2026 whether they have been selected and offered a place, or added to the waiting list. Applicants on the waiting list may still receive an offer in a second selection round if another participant declines their place or fails to confirm their participation.

Confirmation of Participation & Travel Arrangements

  • Applicants who are officially offered a place will be required to arrange their travel and submit proof of their booking (train or flight) within seven days in order to secure their place. If this requirement is not met, the participation offer will be withdrawn and the place will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.

Learning Agreement & Credentials for Learning

Learning Agreement

Before the start of the Teacher Training, successful applicants will receive a digital Learning Agreement specifying the expected learning outcomes.

Credentials for Learning

After completing the Teacher Training, participants will be awarded Credentials for Learning recognising the learning outcomes achieved.
