Erasmus+ SciLMi 2026 BIP — Letter of Intent

Send your student teachers to the heart of the Alps
for an elevated international learning experience

17 - 21 August 2026 – in Innsbruck, Austria

In a world shaped by algorithms, misinformation, and polarised public debate, students need more than subject knowledge.

They need the competences to evaluate sources, think critically, and act as responsible citizens.

For teachers, this means embedding meta-scientific literacies into everyday teaching while navigating packed curricula and increasingly heterogeneous classrooms.

And that’s exactly where the Erasmus+ SciLMi Teacher Academycomes in – offering practical strategies and activities that integrate seamlessly across subjects.

SciLMi Meta-Scientific Literacies Model: Meta-Scientific Literacies in the (Mis-)Information Age

SciLMi Model

The SciLMi Approach

SciLMi promotes democratic resilience by empowering future secondary school teachers to support learners in becoming informed, reflective, and responsible citizens who participate in democratic life both online and offline.

SciLMi stands out for its practical approach, which breaks down complex competences – spanning digital, media, and information literacies, critical thinking, and democracy skills – into learning objectives, outcomes, and HOWs: concrete steps that systematically and progressively guide learners in achieving them.

Student teachers are supported in weaving these steps into their everyday teaching and adapting them to heterogeneous learning groups and diverse student backgrounds, making digital citizenship competences a natural part of instruction across all subjects.

About the SciLMi Summer School

Learning Objectives

Learning Outcome 1 – Integrating Meta-Scientific Literacies

Identify where subject‑specific learning goals naturally overlap with meta‑scientific literacies and recognise suitable moments in the curriculum where these literacies can be meaningfully integrated into ongoing instruction.

Learning Outcome 2 – Fostering Meta-Scientific Literacies

Develop teaching materials and activities that foster students’ critical thinking, reflection, and responsible engagement with digital media and information — embedding digital citizenship education and democratic values in your own classrooms.

Learning Outcome 3 – Designing Contextualised Learning

Design learner‑centred, competence‑based learning experiences that use real‑world socio‑scientific issues to enhance student motivation.

Learning Outcome 4 – Using SciLMi Resources and AI-Translated Materials Effectively

Use SciLMi resources confidently and learn to work critically with machine‑translated and AI‑translated materials to understand their potential, limitations, and common pitfalls when supporting students’ learning.

Learning Outcome 5 – Responding to Learner Diversity

Design inclusive learning environments that recognise students' varied strengths and needs and support equitable participation in heterogeneous classrooms.

Learning Outcome 6 – Collaborating Across Subjects

Collaborate across subject boundaries to help students connect knowledge from different disciplines and develop integrated understanding.

Learning Outcome 7 – Reflecting on Professional Practice

Critically reflect on the pedagogical methods, tools, and resources experienced during the training, and evaluate how they can be transferred and adapted for your own classroom context.
